Fourteen high school students from around the country attended the Journalism Summer Academy program June 12-16, 2023 at the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Participants included: Kennedy Cash, Bryson Davis, Henley Davis, Kelsey Gable, Immauel Isaie, Charley Lamberti, Avery Mikyska, Jeramie Moore, McKenzie Patterson, Ethan Pierre, Janani Rejeshwer, Laney Malone Spevacek, Alex Steppe and Neveah Wilson.
The camp was instructed by Prof. Tom White, broadcast engineer, and Cassidy Hettesheimer, a journalism student at Grady College. Working in small teams, the class produced a broadcast show.
Participants were also introduced to media law through a session with the Student Press Law Center. A partnership with Georgia Humanities brought a panel of guest speakers to discuss media literacy.
